  • MYSA Summer & Fall State Soccer to Remain in Rochester through 2021

    Rochester Sports, in partnership with the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), is pleased to announce a long-term partnership to keep the Summer and Fall State Soccer Tournaments in Rochester through 2021. A projected 250 teams combined will be in Rochester to compete in these events on an annual basis. The estimated economic impact of these events will approach $4 million during that four-year span. The Rochester community, area soccer leagues, and hospitality industry will all greatly benefit from these tournaments.

  • MBT State Baseball Returns to Rochester with Another Division

    The next two weekends will wrap up the summer baseball season here in Rochester as the Metro Baseball State Tournament (MBT State) and the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) Gopher State Tournaments take place. Our staff in partnership with Rochester Youth Baseball Association (RYBA) has played host to these tournaments the last few years. Each organization has a number of divisions that they put on and for the MBT event we will be hosting the 15AAA and the 13A divisions. In total 14 fields across the city will be in use this weekend.

    Now in its eighth year, the Firecracker 92 Legion baseball tournament has been a staple community event since its inception in 2011. Rochester Sports and Rochester American Legion programs have developed a strong partnership over the years, and the Firecracker continues to draw top-level baseball teams (made up of players ages 19 and under) from around the Midwest.

    It was reported that Super Bowl LII brought $400 million into the Twin Cities local economy. While some businesses were overwhelmed, others were not. Businesses with the right product and location flourished. There is no doubt you get out-of-town visitors with events, but how many is difficult to accurately determine. Over 1 million visitors attended the Super Bowl LIVE at Nicollet Mall over the 10 days of festivities, with 1.4 million visiting the Mall of America during that same time. But how much each visitor spends and where they spend it is a challenge to track.
