  • Rochester Sports introduces new Executive Director

    The Rochester Sports Executive Committee is pleased to announce that Matt Esau has been selected to be the next Executive Director of Rochester Sports (formerly Rochester Amateur Sports Commission), Esau will assume the role of Executive Director of Rochester Sports effective January 28th, 2019.

    You always hear that working toward retirement is a goal we should all have. And while it is desirable to think of not having to go to work each day, it comes with some reservations. This past week four candidates were interviewed to become the next Executive Director at Rochester Sports. As part of the succession planning, we (the Rochester Sports Board of Directors and myself) worked out at the beginning of this year that I planned to step down at year's end. The plan is proceeding as intended.

  • NSIC Softball Championship Returns

    For the first time since 2013, Rochester has been selected to host the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Softball Championship in 2019. The NSIC competes at the NCAA Division II level and features 16 schools throughout the Midwest The double-elimination tournament will field the top ten teams in the final NSIC regular season standings, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament.

  • Fall State Soccer Adds Kepp Fields to Venue List

    As the temperature continues to drop and the leaves start to fall, Rochester Sports is gearing up for this weekend’s MYSA Fall State Soccer Championship. 2018 will mark the twelfth consecutive year that Rochester Sports has partnered with Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) to host this event in Rochester.

    Over the years we have had some great guest speakers at the annual Rochester Sports Banquet. This year will also feature an outstanding athlete and person as former Minnesota Twin and Major League Baseball star Justin Morneau has agreed to be the featured guest at the January 21, 2019 Sports Banquet.

  • Rochester Will Host Just For Kix Nationals and Summer Dance Camp in 2019

    Rochester Sports and Just For Kix are happy to announce a partnership that will keep the Just For Kix Dance Nationals in Rochester for the next three years, 2019-21! Just For Kix hosted their Nationals event for the first time at Mayo Civic Center last April. Moving to a new site was a significant change for Just For Kix, but the overall experience at a larger venue created a great experience, as spectators and competitors enjoyed the lively, energetic atmosphere.
